New York City – Day 3: April 28, 2010

Our third and final full day in NYC was filled with walking, exploring, walking and more exploring.
We started from the neighborhood we were staying in and ended up in SoHo.

Along the way, I discovered Madison Square Park, which had in it a dog park, called Jemmy’s Run.

Jemmy’s Run was a small gravel park, that on the face of it was nothing special, but once inside I discovered those fun little squirrels! I swear they were teasing me and given all the fences around park lawns in NYC, I could never get that close to them!

In SoHo, Natalie and Jason bought some jeans and then they walked me up to the Chelsea District and again, my day turned from fantastic to horrendous.

Natalie and Jason made me get cleaned and brushed and clipped and etc., etc. at a groomer called D is for Doggy. D is for Doggy was nice enough, but I don’t like to get cleaned. Natalie told me that this was all for the Queen Mary and since I’d be meeting her the next day, I would need to be nice smelling for our introduction.

While I was being subjected to a bath, Natalie and Jason had lunch at a little French café in Chelsea and then went to her favorite bakery in all of NYC – Billy’s Bakery.  Natalie had fluffy yellow cake with sweet vanilla frosting and Jason had cookies.

After I got picked up from D is for Doggy, we started making our way back to the hotel. The hotel was far away, so, Natalie and Jason decided to catch a cab. Unfortunately, most cabs in NYC don’t like my type; however, there was one nice cab driver that let me in and we made it back to the hotel in a New York minute!

After visiting the hotel rooftop bar, Natalie and Jason ventured into Restaurant Row for dinner at Becco.  Becco is an Italian restaurant that got good reviews on Yelp, although, according to Jason and Natalie it didn’t meet expectations. Needless to say, they won't be back.

When Natalie and Jason got back to the hotel, we all did the strangest thing…we picked up the Explorer and drove to the JFK airport. I had no idea why we were driving to the airport this late at night. I definitely wasn’t expecting anyone!

We got to the airport and to my very pleasant surprise it was Auntie April! On the way back from JFK, Natalie had reminded me that April would be joining both of us on the Queen Mary. Since we were boarding the Queen Mary the next morning, April needed to get into town the night before. I still didn’t know who this Queen Mary person was, but I was definitely glad to see April.

After no sleep that night (Natalie and Jason were up most of the night packing), we awoke the next day to a beautiful and sunny NYC. We checked out of the hotel and drove to Brooklyn (again!) in order to meet this Queen Mary!

Paws,
Sabrina
