Queen Mary 2 Day Four: May 2, 2010

So, I was finally adjusting. I made it through the night without getting sick and was actually starting to enjoy myself a bit.

I got along fairly well with all the dogs; however, there was one in which I particularly enjoyed playing with. It was the ‘Bubba’ dog, which was the French-English bulldog mix. This dog had endless energy and we both quickly wore down the doggie deck after the many times running back and forth chasing the ball.

I also liked Bubba’s owners, as did Natalie and April. Their names were Ed and Maya. Ed had the fancy watch that reflected off the wall, so, I kept to him closely in the case sunlight became available and there was a reflection for me to chase.

Again, Natalie was diligent about visiting me for the whole time during each and every visiting hour. April was up for much of the time, too; however, the 8am-10am time slot was tough on her, given she is more of a night person vs. a morning person.

April did make sure to get up to the Kennels for the 11am visiting time, as the professional photographers were coming around to take pictures of all our cute faces and our owners. My pictures turned out okay, although I was still a little on the grumpy-side and my usually cheery self did not fully come through the photos.

In between visiting hours and dog pictures, Natalie and April’s day 4 excursions consisted of working out at the gym, lunch and daiquiris at the Golden Lion Pub.

Natalie and April also got massages at the Canyon Ranch Spa on Deck 7. Unfortunately, it was really expensive for ‘too light’ of a treatment on Natalie and ‘too rough’ of a treatment on April.  They were glad to try it, but would probably not go back.

The evening attire for the Brittania restaurant was semi-formal, so, Natalie and April decided to go back. They had great conversation with their tablemates (the same ones from the first two evenings they dined at Brittania) and a very decent dinner.

Since the champagne bar was starting to get a little expensive, Natalie and April decided to go to the Illuminations theatre and watch a movie after dinner. The movie playing was called ‘The Blind Side.’ Neither Natalie, nor April had seen it and they both agreed Sandra Bullock was well-deserving of her Oscar.

I was starting to rest okay at this point and luckily, starting Saturday night we were losing an hour each day and would be until Thursday morning. Therefore, the time I had to spend away from Natalie and April would be one hour less each day.

Paws,
Sabrina

  1. Sabrina,
I totally enjoyed reading your blog this AM. I don't know you but I am a neighbor of your Mom's ship mate, Susan B. in Atlanta. Your trip sounds great except for the difficult time on the ship, hope all is much better now that you are getting closer to your new home.
In 2008 I went with my husband to Australia for 15 months. We had 2 scottish terriers but could not find a ship to get them there so they had to stay home. I wrote a blog while we were gone and hoped their temporary parents read it to them. Your Mom can show it to you at oviattsinoz.blogspot.com. We have been home 11 months now and miss Oz but enjoy having dogs again. Unfortunately our babies Mac & Heather passed away shortly after we came home, but we now have the Barker brothers, Oz & Syd- called the devil dogs by my husband. Wish you could meet them they LOVE other dogs and playing hard.
I look forward to following your adventures and drop by to see us when you come back to the USA.
    Judy
