I didn’t see Natalie until the next morning and when she did come by (after what I’d assume was a great night’s sleep), I made sure to cry really loud and crawl all over her. I know that this wasn’t fair and that I was making Natalie really upset, but I just couldn’t help myself – especially after she told me of her previous evening activities.
For dinner, Natalie and April ate at the Brittania restaurant, which is one of the fancier restaurants on the ship. She said they both had a nice meal and met 3 other interesting couples since they were seated at a table for 8. On cruises, it is common for people to share tables in the dining rooms. Natalie and April are generally not so keen on this, but decided to try it and had a rather enjoyable time.
After Natalie finished ‘pouring salt onto an open wound’ by telling me of her very comfortable evening inside the very comfortable ship, she spent some time trying to get me to play with the tennis ball on the ‘doggie deck’ as I like to refer to it. I appeased her for a little while, but, wasn’t really interested.

I did take notice, though, to the reflection gleaming off the watch of Bubba’s owner, Ed and spent a fair bit of time chasing this reflection on the kennel’s walls. I got laughed at, but I didn’t mind – at least I was doing something I was enjoying.

Natalie and April were in and out all day – the kennel visiting hours are from 8-10am, 11-12pm, 3-6pm and 8-8:30pm. Natalie made sure to get to the kennels right at the beginning of the visiting hours and stay to the end. And, I made sure to make a big crying mess out of myself at the start of each of the visiting times.
While I was in the kennels, Natalie and April explored the ship. They walked the decks, found the gym and scoped out the bars and restaurants.
For lunch on their first full day of the ship, they went to the Golden Lion Pub, which is an Irish-themed pub. April had cottage pie for lunch, which is seasoned ground beef and peas with buttery mashed potatoes on top that have been roasted to a crisp, and Natalie had Beef Pot Pie. This wasn’t your average pot pie. This ‘pot pie’ consisted of seasoned cubes of beef sitting in a tasty stew with slices of potato covering the top. For drink, Natalie and April had strawberry daiquiris. I know, this sounds weird. They are delicious, but who would ever drink them? Natalie and April decided that they could probably never get away with drinking daiquiris at a bar in San Francisco, but they could get away with it here…what happens on the Queen Mary 2 stays on the Queen Mary 2, I guess.

For dinner, Natalie and April went to the Brittania again. This was the first formal wear evening, so Natalie and April had to dress up. After going to the dinner all dressed up and being very uncomfortable throughout, they both decided this would probably be their first and last formal evening.
After dinner, Natalie and April ventured over to the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar and helped themselves to some very fancy (and very expensive champagne.) They figured that since they were dressed nice, they could treat themselves to champagne.
All the while, I was sulking in the kennels with the other dogs and night 2 would turn out to be my hardest night of the trip yet.
Paws,
Sabrina.
